When Tori Amos pulled into town last week to play a slew of holiday promo shows (she's plugging her new "seasonal" album Midwinter Graces) we convinced her to stop by the Out offices to chat. We've hung out with Tori before (last time she told us a great Madonna story) but this was the first time we were able to get her on video.
Video interviews are wildly different beasts than print interviews -- especially when it comes to Tori. We ended up with 30 minutes of raw footage -- almost all of it worth featuring -- and decided do a two part interview (something we almost never do) because there was just so much good stuff.
While most of the promo that Tori has been doing in the past month has centered around the new album, we figured we'd try and get her to answer a few burning questions we've had and in our first video we discussed the songs she's no longer interested in playing (no matter how many times her fans beg her), why she'll never reveal which contemporary artists she's listening to, and what kind of ice cream she and Charles Manson both like in that infamous lyric from "Tear In Your Hand":
In part two of our exclusive interview with Tori we chatted about her relationships with gay men, having a "third leg" while playing the piano, getting it on with Jennifer Aniston, what she really thinks about Lady Gaga, and if we'll ever see a re-release of her first major label recording, To see why we chose Tori's Christmas song "Pink and Glitter" as one of the gayest Christmas songs ever, head here.
